LibreSSL gets started

Remember the joke I and probably a zillion others made about OpenOpenSSL?  It’s happening, except it’s called LibreSSL. (thanks, Tomáš Bodžár)

  1. MrYum says:

    - and it’s a good thing.

  2. nwildner says:

That´s awesome. 90K of code lines removed, cleanups and the lib still works as expected on OpenBSD ports. OpenSSL was a hell of a bloatware with old/ancient compatibility layers…

  3. Lars Schotte says:

if they really mean it, it can not be bad

however, a cleanup is not as good as a complete rewrite / reimplementation, like openbsd did with other things.
i for example like openntpd and also this opensmtpd looks good, and i am thinking about it to replace postfix in future.
